Greetings!
I’m Ahmed Ryan, a first-year PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Alabama, working as a Graduate Research Assistant to Dr. Rayhanur Rahman. Prior to joining academia, I was a Software Engineer with around 3 years of experience in software development. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering from the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka, recognized as a leading institution in Bangladesh.
Previously, I worked at Cefalo, a reputable software company, where I created secure web-based software solutions for European clients. My interest in security began in 2020 when I participated in a national CTF competition. During my internship in 2022, I applied OWASP standards to develop secure web applications. I also gained research experience with the Intelligent Systems and HCI Research Group, exploring AI for automated detection of community smells.
Right now, I am working with malicious packages and applying machine learning to solve security challenges. I am actively researching software supply chain attacks to strengthen defenses against modern threats. This blend of industry experience, academic research, and security training has positioned me to effectively bridge theory and practice.
